A little history
1982 is the first entry I can find in the Minute book for an Informal meeting held at the Westwood Hotel in September of that year. There is mention of a Christmas meal and the Clubs Annual Dance to be held at the Welshpool Town Hall. Up for discussion then was, exhibitions, slide projectors, competition battles, photographer of the year and so on. Apart from the request for a filing cab to store paper work related to the club’s business - not a lot has changed in 34 years! Membership was around 41 back then with membership fees around £8 per year.
Welshpool Camera Club - now
With around 40 members and a membership fee of £35 per year the club has a vibrant mix of members. From Pros, Advanced, to amateurs we all "club" together to ensure our programme meets all of our members needs and suited to ensure members photographic skills are challenged regardless of technical ability. The club is more biased towards a "magazine" approach where we look more into mastering camera techniques through hands on experience and through relevant speakers and presentations.
If you are interested in joining the WCC please feel free to come along to any of our meeting, the first visit is free and if you like it, we are sure you will, you are more than welcome to join.
